Everest Base Camp Trekking 16 Days

Everest Region or Sagarmatha as we call it in Nepali, also known as Khumbu Region is one of the most popular destinations among Trekkers in the world, the sacred region is the gateway to the Mount Everest (8848 meters or 29029 feets) the highest mountain in the world, as everybody doesn’t dare to climb Everest, most of the trekkers visit the region to see the Everest in front of them from its base camp which is known as Everest Base Camp (EBC).

Everest Base camp is the place from where Everest Summiteers start their journey to Everest, it’s the point where those adventure lovers who have lust with the lovely mountains and brave hearts dare to reach there and touch the sacred water of the Khumbu valley and feel the mind-blowing breeze of Everest.

The Journey to Everest base camp starts from Kathmandu flying to Lukla Airport and Namche Bazar from where the real adventure begins, from Lukla Airport as the trekkers actually start their journey to either Everest base camp or eventually climb the Everest. Once you reach nearby Everest Base Camp you can see a clear view of Everest from Kala Patthar, which is slightly away from Everest Base Camp, from Everest Base Camp you can have a clear view of Khumbu Ice Fall and also a long range of the Himalayas like Lhotse, Nuptse and so and so.

It has been merely over 65 years Everest was dwarfed by Tenzing Norgay Sherpa the then Nepalese citizen and Edmund Hillary of New Zealand. There had been many failures Everest Expeditions when it was eventually submitted by Sir Edmund Percival Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa on 29th May 1953, Since then it has been conquered many climbers and some had tried to reach the top some had succeeded and some have failed, some had lost their precious lives also. The glory of Everest is so much that each year it attracts the maximum number of trekkers from around the world, most of them seeking to reach Everest Base Camp to see their lust mountain in front of them.

The journey to Everest Base Camp can be completed between 12 to 14 days itinerary depending upon individual caliber and stamina to withstand the height. For those who have never been to the mountain need some more days for accumulation training. As the Journey to Everest comes under a bit harder route and considered as to be among extreme trek, before beginning the journey its always advisable to go through all the precautionary checklist.

Outline Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to the Hotel
Day 2: Kathmandu sightseeing and preparation day
Day 3: Kathmandu-Lukla-Phakding (2652 m/8700 ft.)
Day 4: Phakding-Namche Bazar (3440m/11280ft.)
Day 5: Acclimatization day in Namche Bazar
Day 6: Namche Bazar to Tengboche( 3870m./12,694ft.)- Set off towards Tengboche. 
Day 7: Tengboche to Dingboche(4,360/12,694ft.)
Day 8: Acclimatization day in Dingboche: As the elevation rise this day take a rest day at Dingboche.
Day 9: Dingboche to Lobuche(4940m./16,207ft.): From Dingboche, the trail gradually climbs up to Duglha.
Day 10: Lobuche to Gorakshep(5,170m./16961ft.)-Everest Base Camp (5,364m./17,594ft.)-Gorakshep: 
Day 11: Gorakshep to Kalapathar(5545m./18,192ft.)-Pheriche(4280m./14,070ft.)
Day 12: Pheriche to Namche
Day 13: Namche to Phakding
Day 14: Phakding to Lukla
Day 15: Fly back from Lukla to Kathmandu:
Day 16: Fly back home: 

 

Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to the Hotel:
Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, one of our representative welcomes you and transfer you to the hotel. Get refreshed from the jet lag in the free time. O/N


Day 2: Kathmandu sightseeing and preparation day:
A full day Kathmandu valley sightseeing is dedicated to introduce some of the UNESCO world heritage listed sites including Soyambhunath, Pashupatinath ,Boudhanath and Kathmandu Durbar Square. After sightseeing you will have enough time to check the trekking gears. O/N


Day 3: Kathmandu-Lukla-Phakding (2652 m/8700 ft.):
A scenic 40 minutes flight from Kathmandu takes you to Lukla. In Lukla meet remaining crews then start trek to Phakding. It is 3 hours gentle walk through the bank of Dudh Koshi River to Phakding. Overnight at Phakding.

Day 4: Phakding-Namche Bazar (3440m/11280ft.):
Take breakfast, and start the trekking following the Dudhkoshi river. A gradual walk of 6-7 hours will take you to Namche Bazar. Namche Bazar is widely famous as The Sherpa Capital where you can get chance to explore the Sherpa culture and the traditions. O/N


Day 5: Acclimatization day in Namche Bazar:
A rest day in Namche Bazar. This day we visit Tourist Visit Center to collect the knowledge of Sherpa traditions, cultures and flora and faunas of Khumbu Region. We also can hike up to Thame. As Namche is the last place to check the gears we also have time to check our gears and if something missed then we can hire it there. Overnight. 


Day 6: Namache Bazar to Tengboche( 3870m./12,694ft.)- Set off towards Tengboche.
This day the trail goes ups and downs and magnificent views of Mt Everest, Mt Nuptse, Mt Lhotse and close views of Thamserkhu and Amadablam will accompany along the way to Tengboche. As Tengboche is one of the best mountain view point we can enjoy the superb views of mountains. Tengboche also has the biggest Buddhist Monastery of Everest Region. Enjoy exploring. Overnight.


Day 7: Tengboche to Dingboche(4,360/12,694ft.):
Passing several Chortens and Mani walls plus a village of Pangboche where the oldest monastery of the Everest region our trek gradually leads us to Dingboche which is next view point for the mountains. O/N.


Day 8: Acclimatization day in Dingboche:
As the elevation rise this day take a rest day at Dingboche. It is better to hike Nagarstang hill before lunch. After lunch, we take rest at Dingboche. Overnight.


Day 9: Dingboche to Labuche(4940m./16,207ft.):
From Dingboche, the trail gradually climb up to Duglha. We then cross Duglha Pass the beginning of Khmubu Glacier and gradually trek up to Labuche. In Labuche we can find some typically stone design houses. Overnight.


Day 10: Lobuche to Gorakshep(5,170m./16961ft.)-Everest Base Camp (5,364m./17,594ft.)-Gorakshep:
The day to trek Everest Base Camp, one of hardest and the most wonderful  day of the trekking. You will be trekking to Everest Base Camp today.Start early morning from Lobuche, Gorakshep will be the lunch place.From Gorakshep we further hike up to Everest Base Camp. We can spend some time in Everest Base Camp. After then we trek back to Gorakshep for overnight. We can still get the superb views of mountains from our teahouse as well. Overnight.


Day 11: Gorakshep to Kalapathar(5545m./18,192ft.)-Pheriche(4280m./14,070ft.)-
Hike up to Kalapathar to catch the sunrise in the mountains. Kalapathar offers the better views than Everest Base Camp itself.Enjoy the picturesque views. Then we descend dow to Pheriche for overnight.


Day 12: Pheriche to Namche:
 An easy walking day. With 4 hours gentle walk from Pheriche we reach Namche Bazar. Same way back via Tengboche. Overnight. 


Day 13: Namche to Phakding:
From Namche the trail descends steeply via Dudh Koshi River then passes Jorsalle and Monjo before reaching Phakding. It takes 5 hours to reach Phakding from Namche Bazar. Overnight.


Day 14: Phakding to Lukla:
Final trekking day, descend down to Lukla. Enjoy a farewell dinner with the crews in the evening. Overnight.


Day 15: Fly back from Lukla to Kathmandu:
Take a flight back to Kathmandu. In Kathmandu, you will have enough time for last minute shopping. Overnight at hotel.


Day 16: Fly back home:
You will be transfer to the airport to catch your flight back home. Trip ends.
