Overview

Makalu Base Camp Trekking, a trekking into the foothill of the 5th highest mountain in the world. A high altitude trekking in high terrains, Makalu Base Camp Trekking offers to explore the untouched and unspoiled natural and cultural wonders.
During the trekking one can explore the local culture and traditions of the Sherpa and Tamang ethnic groups plus their living style. Inclusion of the Barun Glacier and Makalu Barun National Park adds the excitement on the Makalu Base Camp Trek. The amazing views of the Mount Everest, Lhotse, Chamling, Kanchenjunga plus south face of the Makalu is something spectacular.
The best time to trek to Makalu Base Camp are spring(March-May) and autumn (September-November)

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu and Transfer to the hotel (1,300m): Upon your arrival in Kathmandu Airport, one of our representative will welcome you and transfer you to the hotel. In free time you can take a good rest. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing (1,334m.): A full day Kathmandu sightseeing is designed to explore the four of the UNESCO World Heritage Listed sites in Kathmandu including Soyambhunath, Pashupatinath, Boudhanath and Kathmandu Durbar Square. After the sightseeing you will have enough time for the preparation. Overnight at hotel.
Day 3: Fly to Tumlingtar (45 minutes) and drive to Chichira (1,980m/ 3-4 hours drive): First take a scenic flight to Tumlingtar. From Tumlingtar, you will be driving further to Chichira-a wonderful Gurung settlement for the overnight. . 
Day 4: Chichira to Num (1,560m/ 6-7 hours): Walk through the several small villages plus forest to get to Num. The trail you take this day is gentle. Overnight at teahouse.
Day 5: Trek to Seduwa (1,500m/5-6hours trek): Walk through the forest, further cross the roaring Barun River. From the river the trails ascends up to the Seduwa for the overnight.
Day 6: Trek to Tashigaon (2,100m/4-5 hours): Trekking through the several villages, walking along the paddy fields is an amazing experience. Tashi Gaon will welcome you with superb views of the mountains. Overnight at teahouse. 
Day 7: Tashigaon to Khongma Danda (3,500m/ 6-7 hours trek): Another interesting day of the trekking, the trail first enters the forest then continues to the stream. Further you will take a steep up trail following the stone steps to Khongma Danda. Overnight at teahouse.
Day 8: Acclimatization day:  An extra day is to adapt the thin air.
Day 09: Khongma Danda to Dobate (6-7 hours trek): A tough trekking day. The trail first climb up to Shipton La pass the to Kele La. Further it descends to Dobate where you will stay the night. Overnight at teahouse.
Day 10: Trek to Yangri Kharka (3,557m/5- 6hours): First trek through the dense forest to Barun river. Further take a steep up trail to Yangri Kharka for the overnight. Overnight at Yangri Kharka.
Day 11: Yangri Kharka to Langmale Kharka: (4,410m/ 5-6 hours): Pass several yak pastures small to dense forest to get to Langmale Kharka. Walking through the high land will be an wonderful experience. Overnight at teahouse.
Day 12: Trek to Makalu Base Camp: (4,870m/6-7 hours): First ascend up to Shershong. From Shershong the trail leads you to Makalu Base Camp. In the Makalu Base Camp you can collects the awe-inspiring views of the mountains including Everest, Lhotse and Makalu itself. Overnight at teahouse.
Day 13: Explore Makalu Base Camp: A full day to explore around the Makalu Base Camp. Visit the glaciers, lakes and collect the wonderful views of the towering mountains. Overnight at teahouse.
Day 14: Trek back to Yangri Kharka(6-7 hours trek): This day you will trek back to Yangri Kharka for the overnight. Overnight at teahouse.
Day 15: Yangri Kharka to Dobate( 6-7 hours trek): You will be walking a rough trail today. The trail passes several forests through the rocky path via Barun River bank to get to Dobate for the overnight. Overnight at teahouse.
Day 16: Dobate to Khongma Danda(5-6 hours trek):  First trek to Namrug through the dense rhododendron forest. Along the way the inclusion of the Kela La and Kauma La pass makes the trail interesting. Overnight at Khongma Danda.
Day 17: Khongma Danda to Tashigaon(4-5 hours trek): Retrace back to Tashi Gaon following the same way. Overnight at teahouse.
Day 18: Trek back to Seduwa(4-5 hours trek): Trek through the Barun river bank and cross several small settlements to get to Seduwa for the overnight. Overnight at teahouse.
Day 19: Seduwa to Num (5-6 hours trek): Crossing the several Sherpa villages and trekking through the dense forest you will reach Num for the overnight. Overnight at teahouse.
Day 20: Trek back to Tumlingtar(6-7 hours trek): You will first trek to Chichira and from there you will further trek to Tumlingtar for the overnight. Overnight at teahouse.
Day 21: Fly back to Kathmandu(50 mins flight): Take an early flight back to Kathmandu. In Kathmandu you will have enough time for the last minute shopping. Overnight at hotel.
Day 22: Fly back home: One of our representative will transfer you to the Kathmandu airport to catch your returning flight back home.
